Runewords are powerful items created by combining a Runeword Recipe scroll, a base item, and a combination of runes at the Altar which can be found beyond the Portal. The resulting item will have the runeword stats added to the provided base item. Items of any rarity can be used. The resulting runeword stats are affected by the base item level. A higher item level will result in a higher range each stat can roll.

When combining items at the altar all the input ingredients, including the recipe scroll, will be consumed. Some runeword recipes are sold by Mistress Bubba at the Barn. She appears after you buy the Deluxe Barn upgrade. While other runeword recipes are sold by Gurk the Hungry on the Badlands side of the Badlands Station portal.
